Central Texas Food Bank (https://www.centraltexasfoodbank.org/) Thanks to a thriving business sector and unparalleled economic development, Central Texas is among the fastest growing regions in the nation. But amid this growth and prosperity, many of our neighbors are being left behind. The rising cost of housing, utilities, transportation and healthcare leaves many of our neighbors to make impossible choices and painful sacrifices. Two-thirds of the people we serve say they had to choose between buying food and paying for housing in the past year. Eighty percent say they had to choose between food and medicine. Hunger affects people from all walks of life. Working families, retired seniors on fixed incomes, grandparents with custody of grandchildren, the chronically ill and the disabled all turn to the Food Bank for help in emergencies or as part of their regular meal planning. As we work together to ensure all these people get the nutritious food they need, we’re counting on you to help educate the community and dispel myths about hunger around us. Please share your knowledge with others. Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry (https://www.bastropfoodpantry.org/) At the heart of the Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry and Support Center over that period is a strongly held commitment to alleviate hunger with emergency food, to address the underlying factors that create food insecurity and to provide a helping hand to individuals and families struggling toward self-sufficiency. While all Food Pantry services are fundamentally built around the three challenges, 30 years of service have consistently shown how complex and diverse the causes of food emergencies are. No one solution fits all. And that reality has given rise to service offerings shaped around different kinds of client needs. This location allows volunteering. In high poverty areas, the LFP is most often for those who are not easily able to meet everyday food and personal needs. In middle class neighborhoods, the LFP might stock after-school snacks for neighborhood kids or that "cup of sugar" you never have when you need it. (In my case it's an onion.) In all places, the Little Free Pantry is for those who want and/or need to give. The LFP is small, so it cannot stock the quantity and variety other food pantries can. For this reason, it should not be relied on for meeting pervasive need. For detailed information and locations please visit http://mapping.littlefreepantry.org/ and input your location. 23.
