The Generous Are Prosperous
My wife and I have spent the last 20 years trusting the truths of God's Word regarding generosity. We have given in faith during times of blessing and times of scarcity.
I can specifically recall one occasion when I invited a family over for dinner only to have my wife inform me that we were out of toilet paper and nearly out of food.
For us, this was decision time.
Do we give up on God's promise that the "generous soul will prosper" or do we keep sharing our provisions and our lives with others in faith that He would take care of us and bless us?
We decided to trust God and keep living generously in faith. We pulled the chicken out and started prepping for our guests.
Later that day my friend called to ask if they could bring anything with them to add to our dinner. I let him know we had the food covered but... if they planned to use our bathroom they would need to bring their own toilet paper. BYOT?? It may have been embarrassing but ultimately we had a good laugh and the experience strengthened our friendship.
It was a hard season in our life but it was also a time when the peace of God was shining brightly to everyone around us. If we could trust Him and live generously during such difficult times then surely they could trust Him to take care of them too.
Today we are living on the other side of God's promises. We are experiencing his blessing through growing businesses, increased income and overall prosperity.
By forming the habit of generosity in the toughest seasons, we are now able to use this increase to go even further and be even more generous in our gift of giving.
If you are financially prosperous we ask you to invest your money in helping us reach the lost and strengthen the found. If you are struggling financially we encourage you to sow your seed of giving in faith. Faith that God will see your generosity and reward you with great increase.
If you are already living in a place of prosperity we encourage you to continue to stretch yourself, activate your faith, and enjoy the excitement of walking with Jesus in the generosity and intimacy of a faith that gives extravagantly to extend God's kingdom and bless others.
