Anxiety is a common human emotion, and the Bible acknowledges this fact. Throughout its pages, the Bible offers advice and encouragement for those struggling with anxiety. Here are a few examples of how the Bible advises dealing with anxiety: Pray and Trust in God One of the most common pieces of advice given in the Bible for dealing with anxiety is to pray and trust in God. In Philippians 4:6-7, the apostle Paul writes, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." This verse encourages us to turn to God in prayer, present our worries to Him, and trust that He will provide us with peace. Cast Your Cares on God In 1 Peter 5:7, it says, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." This verse reminds us that we can give our worries and concerns to God, knowing that He cares for us and will help us through our struggles. Focus on Positive Thoughts In Philippians 4:8, it says, "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." This verse encourages us to focus our thoughts on positive and uplifting things rather than dwelling on negative thoughts that can contribute to anxiety. Seek Wise Counsel Proverbs 15:22 says, "Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers, they succeed." This verse encourages us to seek the advice of wise and trusted friends or professionals who can help us navigate our worries and find a path forward. These words remind us that we are not alone in our struggles and that God is always with us, providing strength and comfort.
